Problem
Having an optimized supply chain process is key in any industry that deals with material stock of any kind. This optimization doesn’t come easy, however, since no matter how much data you have at hand, it’s the process and order of actions themselves that present the challenge. We had a client recently who had this same epiphany. They had all the needed data – inventory size, bill of materials, client demand, etc. A third party was handling their manufacturing process and was presenting them with supply and manufacturing data every month. As time passed, our client started to notice certain inefficiencies and began to wonder about things like whether they were allocating the right amount of raw materials to satisfy the demand. Questions like that kept bubbling to the surface, and it was clear that something needed to be done. So, this client of ours reached out to us and requested a way to optimize their processes.
Solution
But which part needed to be optimized? You can’t optimize everything, or at least not in one single swoop. So, our developers thought of a very nuanced solution – a machine-learning-enhanced dashboard that determines the most optimal process optimization based on set criteria. The solution was designed so that it could easily be plugged into any already established business ecosystem without any issues. After the inventory data was linked up and available, users could tick off the factors they wished to optimize. From there, our solution would generate a recommendation that would improve the processes that feature those factors. The listed criteria can also be switched up at any time, which made our solution flexible enough to fit any business or field. Additionally, users could preview their inventory at any future date, which was generated based on current trends. Finally, the dashboard was built to be adaptive and transformable, so our client could easily request and add new features and functionality to best fit their needs.
Success
At the end of the day, our solution was just what our client needed to schedule their production in the most optimal manner. Our dashboard helped them save money and even improved their overall financial gain over time by reducing manufacturing costs and increasing revenue gained. Additionally, our client saved a lot of time in number crunching and managed to reallocate a big chunk of their planning analysts’ productive time to more value-adding tasks. There were just too many factors to consider when doing manual calculations, so having everything done automatically was a great change of pace. Finally, our solution was linked up with our client’s planning system so that the recommendations generated could easily be transferred into optimal plans and forecasts.
