How to Detect Qlik Cloud Failed Reloads and Send Instant Alerts to Microsoft Teams

Qlik Cloud failed reloads don’t have to catch you off-guard. In this quick, hands-on guide, you’ll learn how to build a lightweight, no-cost monitoring workflow that automatically detects reload errors in Qlik Cloud, filters the noisy logs for genuine failures, and posts clear, real-time alerts straight into Microsoft Teams. By the end, you’ll be able to set up your own Qlik Automate that keeps your dashboards fresh and your data team instantly informed.

Why Monitor Qlik Cloud Failed Reloads

If you’ve been managing applications in Qlik Cloud, you’ve probably encountered a common pain point: there’s no built-in way to get alerted when a task fails.

Unlike Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows, Qlik Cloud currently lacks a native system for task monitoring and alerting.

Qlik Cloud currently requires users to manually check the status of reload tasks. This might work for small teams or low-risk environments, but as your ecosystem grows, so does the risk of failed reloads going unnoticed. And that means delayed data, broken dashboards, and a whole lot of unnecessary firefighting.

Solution Overview: Using Qlik Automate

To solve this, we can take advantage of Qlik Automate to build a custom solution. Using that you can schedule an automation to:

  • Check for failed reloads on a regular basis
  • Gather detailed information about what failed and when
  • And push a notification directly into a Microsoft Teams channel where your developers, analysts, or data engineers are already collaborating.

This approach gives you a lightweight, scalable alerting system—all built natively within Qlik Cloud and Microsoft Teams, with no third-party tools or extra licenses required. You’ll learn how to:

  • Set up a scheduled automation in Qlik Cloud
  • Identify and filter recently failed tasks
  • And configure a webhook to send alerts to Microsoft Teams in real time

Real-world bonus: I will include screenshots of this automation – the way I built it for one of our clients – offering visual clarity on each step, including how to structure the flow, configure Microsoft Teams integration, and format error messages. This will give you a working example you can replicate or tailor to your needs.

How to Set Up Qlik Cloud Failed Reload Alerts in Microsoft Teams in Two Steps

The two steps to set up Qlik Cloud failed reload alerts in Microsoft Teams are:

  1. Create a new Qlik Automation
  2. Add a Microsoft Teams block

Create a New Qlik Automation

Start by creating a new automation from your Qlik Cloud tenant (you must have the required access in order to create automations). You can do this through the Add New button in the upper-right corner of the Qlik hub.

1. Select Webhook Run Mode

2. Choose Qlik Cloud Services

3. For the event select App Reload Finished

4. For the reload status I selected Failed (error) and All as Usage option

In the filter I added several Space IDs that I would like to be checked. Add a block to take action on the failed reload.

For the second block navigate to Microsoft Teams and select the Send Message

Add a Microsoft Teams Block to Take Action on the Failed Reload

For the second block navigate to Microsoft Teams and select the Send Message

First navigate to the Connection menu and setup your Microsoft Teams connection.

Add the team’s ID and the channel’s ID that you would like to receive the notifications.

For the Content, add the text formatted in HTML. For the purpose of my project I included App Name, Duration and Error description.

Now each time an application from the list fails to reload, I receive a notification in the specific Microsoft Teams channel.

Qlik Cloud Failed Reloads FAQs

What causes Qlik Cloud failed reloads?

Common causes include unstable data connections, script errors, missing data sources, and resource limits reached during reload.

How often should I run the automation to check for failed reloads?

Most teams schedule the automation every 5–15 minutes so they are alerted quickly without overwhelming the system.

Can I send Qlik Cloud failed reload notifications somewhere other than Microsoft Teams?

Yes – the same automation can post to Slack, send email, or trigger webhooks to incident-response tools like PagerDuty.

Does Qlik Automate cost extra for monitoring failed reloads?

No. Application Automation is included in Qlik Cloud and you pay only for your tenant consumption as usual.

Are third-party monitoring tools a better option?

They can offer richer dashboards, but this native method keeps everything in Qlik Cloud and Teams, requires no extra licenses, and is enough for most use cases.
