Helping others who are less fortunate has been a tradition here at B EYE every time the holidays roll around. They usually give us the opportunity to make thematic keepsakes and try to raise money with them for charities. Today we’d like to cover one of them – the Fondazione Marista per la Solidarietà Internazionale Onlus (FMSI) “Bright Future project. We supported this initiative with the funds raised from our Christmas 2020 auction because we believe everyone deserves a second chance, especially the younger generation. From the title, you’ve most likely guessed that the “Bright Future” project is focused on helping the children of Bangladesh. However, you’re probably wondering how it’s actually supposed to help them. Well, let’s cover that, shall we?

Brighter Future – The Moulvibazar Education Program

In Bangladesh, 74% of families living on tea plantations are below the poverty line. The situation is so bad that even children are often employed in work. The district of Moulovibazar, along with a few others, has the lowest human development index in the country: the level of literacy is even lower among tea workers and their communities. There are primary schools within the districts, but not enough secondary schools compared to the high number of school-age children in the area. The “Brighter Future” project aims to help the children and adolescents in tea plantation communities there by increasing school enrolment rates and purchasing all the necessities for them like notebooks, textbooks, and even clothes. During the COVID-19 pandemic, part of the budget was also used to provide food to the families most in need.

Conclusion

As we mentioned earlier – everyone deserves a second chance. For these kids, this project is a great way to get the necessary education, so they don’t have to resort to working at the tea plantations for very little pay. If you want to find out more about the project, then be sure to check out the hyperlinks above, and also make sure you contact FMSI if you wish to support them in this challenging endeavor. We know that we’ll be assisting them whenever possible, so if you want to stay up-to-date, you should consider following us on social media. Keep the hope up and the future bright, everyone!
